If you are a User who verified your identity as part of your Participation in the All of Us Research Program, or other eligible NIH-supported research programs, certain of your Personal information may be protected under Certificates of Confidentiality.
Certificates of Confidentiality (Certificates) protect the privacy of research participants by prohibiting disclosure of identifiable, sensitive information to anyone not connected to the research, including in response to demands by federal, state, or local law enforcement, or in the event of a subpoena, except when the participant consents to the transfer of their personal information. Further, applicable federal law states that anyone who receives a Certificate may not in any federal, state, or local civil, criminal, administrative, legislative, or other proceedings identify the subjects of research covered by the Certificate. Thus, the Certificates help to minimize risks to subjects by adding an additional level of protection for maintaining confidentiality of private information.
Where you use ID.me to verify your identity in connection with the NIH-supported All of Us Research Program, your participation in the program and the data used to verify your identity in qualifying for the program are covered by the Certificate. Your use of your ID.me credential with other third party partners is not impacted nor covered by the Certificate, as you will be required to consent to the sharing of this information exempting your data from coverage as it relates to other ID.me third party partners.
If you are using ID.me Services in connection with an eligible NIH-supported Research Program, we will not use Personal Information collected as part of your identity verification for any type of marketing or promotional purposes, unless you otherwise use your ID.me credential for verification with any ID.me customer who is not a state or federal government agency customer, use your ID.me account in connection with ID.me Shop, ID.me Jobs, or ID.me Rx, or otherwise opt-in to receiving marketing communications from ID.me.
